TOPIC: Effective Internet Marketing

Marketing on the Web: new science? No! Good marketing basics still apply! But the Internet offers powerful new tools to grow your business. Following are four suggested areas to consider when adding a Web site to the mix:

promote your URL/Web address relentlessly. Don't forget to include it prominently on all your marketing materials; brochures, flyers, ads, handouts. Give people things with your address written on it. It is the doorway to much more than a brochure can present. Try to develop a "look" in all your marketing materials, whether it is a signature colour, a set of colours, a logo - extend the visuals to create identity/ correlation

try to develop a "unique selling point".  Pick your most popular products or services and present them separately to create a distinct focus for each. This will assist in generating traffic to your Web site from Search Engines. If your products are not unique, try to provide unique services such as free consultations, assistance in finding something. Be responsive. Create unique promotions. Be different.

when they come, you better be ready! Web surfers are not patient people. If they can't find their quarry quickly and easily - click - they're gone! Offer something to nibble on. If they check you out your service has to measure up. 'Say what you will do and do what you said'. Building credibility and confidence is a process that may begin with small steps. You want visitors to 'bookmark' your site and return often

Interactivity is the most powerful new facility offered by the Web. It allows you to communicate more effectively with your customers and if you respond to your best customers you will create a lasting bond. Use e-mail. Ask permission to let customers know when something new and special is happening. Ask on the Web but also ask in the store. Give them a reason to come back. Be dynamic; always new; always fresh but most of all: always in touch!
